Table etiquette: Do not touch the croupier’s hands or pass money or chips directly to him or her. Set the money and chips down on the table; move your hands away and the croupier will finish the transaction. Do not touch the table while the croupier is clearing off non-winning chips.
It is customary when cashing out to leave the croupier at least a small fraction of your winnings as a tip. 5% is acceptable, 10% is generous.
Game Play: Put your chips on the table to indicate your bets. The croupier will start the wheel turning while this is in progress. As soon as the ball on the wheel slides down to the level of the number slots, the croupier waves their hands over the table to say, “No more bets.” Once the ball has jumped into a number slot and settled there, the wheel stops and the croupier puts a short transparent marker on the winning number and announces it by number only. The croupier then surveys the table and clears off all the non-winning chips. Only then are bets paid off.
Your winning chip will stay on the table for the next round, unless you decide you don’t want to bet that number again, in which case, you take it off the table or move it elsewhere.
